Look for European companies. Often, but not always, their US employees get the same time off that their European employees get.

Random House starts at 4 weeks plus is closed the week between Xmas and New Year’s. They offer a paid sabbatical for long term employees and 20 weeks paid parental leave. My sister works there and moved to be closer to us in the DMV during Covid and they’re fine with her continuing WFH (she’s in marketing).

My company (big tech) give unlimited PTO, which in practice means I take something like two 2 week vacations (summer and Xmas), often a week in the spring, plus several long weekends and some random days off as needed. A lot of tech companies offer this.

I’m at an association and get 240 hours a year, plus 11 holidays and 5 mental health days.

Bump, which other companies in NoVa offer a lot of PTO? Not the unlimited PTO scam.

In my experience, higher ed. At UMD you get 14 holidays, (and it's closed from roughly December 23 to January 2), 15 days sick leave, 3 personal days and 22 days annual leave in a year. This is for exempt staff and faculty.

Gartner goes up to 35 (takes 5 years to get there, you start at 20)

Yes, I basically took off a week each month. I also took off most of December.

I was underpaid and a niche expert and this was the only way they could keep me.

Parts of Leidos offers really good PTO, 30-41 days depending how long you are with the company.

Besides obviously the federal government, where else do you know that has good time off policies?
