It really feels like a community; that “village” raising kids will that many of us want. Strong academics, good college placements, engaging sports. But honestly, generally nice, warm families in a school that wants kids to turn out as nice people. That’s what did it for us.

This is a great description of Maret

Great academics without being a pressure cooker.

+1 (we applied got in and are happy)

Many people want co-ed schools.
Sidwell is viewed as a pressure cooker.
GDS also a pressure cooker (less so) but super woke which doesn't appeal to everyone.

It has a lot of curb appeal. Beautiful lawn.

It was very busy indeed. I honestly left thinking that my DC’s chances are slim. Thankfully, the wait will be over in a few weeks.

We were there this weekend too. I was surprised how busy it was.

Did any other families go and inquire? I got a very vague response.

I’m surprised it was vague. When we applied for 7th they were very honest: 12 or so spots, 150+ applicants (give or take in both depending on the size of the grade)

The last time I looked at this, typical graduating classes are around 88. They probably target 85.

It was a self-guided tour. You just got to wander around the buildings and talk to a student or two, if you took the initiative. It was scheduled through Ravenna a while ago and then delayed by a month or so an uptick in Omicron cases.

Maret has this information on its website. It clearly says 20-25 for 9th. What I want to know is, how come I didn’t get a notification that Maret was having an in person open house! Ugh.
