Yes. A scheduled D&C. My RE said emergency D&Cs tend to have a higher rate of potential scarring vs. scheduled. I don’t know why, but I can take a solid guess.

Stopped my progesterone and estrogen two days ago and spotted a lot yesterday. Hope to naturally miscarry but if not traveling to my RE for D&C as he doesn’t use a curette to reduce chance of scarring.

I had a blighted ovum and miscarried naturally around 14 weeks. I should have done a D&C since I ended up with one anyway. I easily got pregnant a few months later and had an uneventful pregnancy resulting in a healthy baby.

I had a BO with my first pregnancy at 37. I got pregnant the first month we tried but the doctor's office didn't want to see me before 9 weeks. It was at 9 weeks no heartbeat but they said it stopped growing at 6 weeks, 6 days. I went back one week later for a scan and then had a D&C at Georgetown. I started spotting while I was waiting for the D&C to start. The whole time was so sad for me. I got pregnant 3 months later naturally. I delivered my first daughter at 38 and my second daughter at 40. I didn't have any problems with the D&C. We started trying again 1 month after the D&C and after 3 months of trying, we got pregnant. With my next pregnancy, I got to hear a heartbeat at 7 weeks.

I’m very sorry you are going through this. I had a BO and did the follow up scan after my first scan didn’t show an fetus. I decided to wait it out but when I didn’t miscarry naturally, I ended up taking the medication. I had to take it twice since the first time didn’t get everything out but I’m still glad I did that rather than D & C because I was 39 and still wanted to try again and I was very worried about scarring. I think I could have tried again soon but we waited several months for various reasons. Wishing you the best whichever way you handle it.

I was much older than you when I had my BO. One of the reasons they may be cautious is that a tilted uterus can be mistaken for a BO. I waited mine out for a natural mc. I was in my 40s and very concerned about possible scarring from a D&C, as I wouldn’t have time to fix that.

My understanding is that if you do a D&C you have to wait a full cycle to try again to make sure your lining rebuilds itself.

My natural mc happened at 11w. It was . . . not great. Still the right decision for me, but not without its cons.

CW: Pregnancy loss, ending an unviable pregnancy

Went in for my first scan and was 50/50 it was a BO due to a few factors. OBGYN could find gestational and egg sac but no signs of fetus. I have a scan scheduled next week for 7w6d and was told to continue medication until “confirmation stand”.

Seems like by almost 7 weeks they should 100% see an embryo with heart activity for it to be a viable pregnancy. Only incidences of second scans at this point in pregnancy showing different results is on non-IVF pregnancies where patient has POC or another reason cycle could be off.

Pretty frustrated, I feel like it’s just prolonging my misery. Still have pregnancy symptoms and my hCG is within the normal range for a healthy pregnancy at this point and still doubling.

If anyone has gone through this (and I’m incredibly sorry if you have) what did you do after confirmation? I’m debating a natural miscarriage, medicated or D&C. D&C scares me dude to risk of scarring and risk or Asherman’s. I also don’t know if it’s possible to test tissue with BO. My RE didn’t seem to give me the options until it was all confirmed but I want a plan. This is my very first pregnancy. My embryos are untested but not mine. I am 31-years-old. I had an exploratory saline hysterectopy and there appeared to be no issues. I did not have a Hysterosalpingogram but I plan to before next transfer.

If you had a BO how many months before you were able to try again? If you’ve had BO or early MS what option did you choose and did you feel it was best?
