It's a stellar school--as are many others. That's all I have. Go. Don't go. If your child goes and works hard they will have tons of options. If they go and slack off, not as many.

No. My kids are VT engineer grads, but despite my bias bias… friends who kids did UVA engineering, including CS have done very well post-grad. Would have had few concerns about either kid at UVA (but VT suited both better).

Yes. They have a strong dept and many companies recruit there for CS. Especially if they want people with a strong general education + CS.


Many companies like Capitol One. CS/engineering at UVA is pretty bad.


This isn't true. Just ask the department for data on where alums work--it's the usual set of CS big names. They do well.


TJ grad went to UVA due to finances and graduated in the top 10% with CS degree and works for Capitol One.

It would be more difficult to qualify for UVA than VT (even in engineering).
