Children should wear masks during times of high incidence in the community to lower transmission, which will help keep schools open and functioning. It's also to protect vulnerable populations, including teachers, school staff and family members.

Framing it as "we don't need to protect children because Covid isn't dangerous to them is disingenuous."

She notes that 863 children have died from Covid, but how many teachers and school staff have died?

More than 60 have died in one state, Georgia, just this school year.

You realize you can find “a doctor” to support any particular bias you espouse, right? There are plenty of doctors who still support masking in schools.

Come back in a few weeks, OP.

I don't think people realize how high cases still are. We're still on par with the surge from last winter.

Yup. Let's have a conversation in March or April. We're not there yet.

+1

We are getting there. Finally.

Because I want schools to stay open and I want my child not to be excluded from schools over an exposure. In a few weeks we’re at test to stay, so that’s better.

I’m ok with masks for now, but I will say that at this point last year I was a week away from receiving my second vaccination dose.

I'm also ok with them for now. I would like to be able to walk in to the building in the morning, unmasked and remove it when the kids leave ( I share a classroom and my co-teacher feels the same way.)

With the 6 month-5 vaccine right around the corner I think they’ll drop it in spring
