I'm 45, married with six kids and very happy. Busy, but happy. DH and I were just talking about this last month - how we're in the sweet spot and we need to appreciate it.

I’m pretty sure it takes until…about now for all of that to happen, but I’m not going to attribute it to “the 40s”. It’s life and now we have to make big adult decisions, that we are prepared to do in….our 40s.

Your DH calls YOU a cliche after HIS affair???!!!

Because we stop living. We work and parent, work and parent. No fun, no adventures, no new friendships. It takes its toll.

Why was he so horrible?

Too much to list. Never compatible. We should not have gotten married. Did not want to. Biggest mistake of my life. It was the worst decade.

I am pretty happy, but I feel like my early thirties were the extremely hard on me, and my mid thirties were a fight to get back to a good place, and now I’ve got it all and I appreciate it. I just worry that it’s all fleeting.

Argh! Everything i have read about satisfaction at this age is that it gets better for folks after they get out of the thick of the kid years.

Did one of you settle with the other after breaking off a very long relationship?

Dh and I are in our mid 40s, been married for almost 15 years, have 3 kids and financially secure. We should be happy and satisfied but we just aren’t.

Every single person that I know well is having relationship problems. Some are divorced or divorcing. Others just unhappily married.

Is is a midlife crisis? I don’t know.
