Did a Sibley hospital tour (virtual), was told that they ask the care partner the screening questions and if they answer yes to any questions they won't be allowed in. One of the questions is whether they have tested positive for Covid in the last three weeks, or been exposed to anyone who has tested positive in the last 2 weeks. Seems like an outdated standard. Does anyone know if there is any leeway, like if partner has a negative PCR 5 days after date of exposure?

Is it fast testing or PCR? due to logistical reasons, I was planning on laboring as long as possible at home, basically, once I feel like I'm dying, I'll go to the hospital... do i have to wait for my pcr testing to come back to be admitted?

Last time i went to the hospital and I could barely articulate a word even between contractions, would they make me wait or just keeping my mask on?

I was admitted then tested.

So that means they admit you but you have to have the mask on until you get Negative Covid test, right?

Technically yes and even after the negative there was no mention of being allowed to take off my mask. I just took it off and no one said anything. I will admit though that I took my mask off after being admitted and prior to the test… I was so hot.

Yes - I did. Mom is tested in triage. I tried to keep my mask on the whole time, as did my DH, but they never said anything to me when they popped in and it was off. I didn’t wear one while pushing but my DH did. In recovery the masking was even more lax for the patient. No one ever made me feel guilty for getting “caught” without one. Apart from the covid test, it was never brought Up. The only real difference is the nursery is closed and visiting limited. Though for my third kid, I didn’t need anyone visiting!

If mom is positive, can the care partner stay post-labor? Ie if you have a csection and will be at the hospital for 3 days, does care partner get to stay? I was told if mom was positive then the baby can't go to the nursery, so seems hard if your care partner also isn't allowed to stay.

I may deliver at WHC and asked a friend who works in Maternity. This is what she said:
1. They test on admission. You do not need a pre-test. If you tested positive within the last 90 days and do not have new symptoms, they will not retest and will assume you are negative if you’re at least 10 days out from your last test.
2. If you test positive, I believe that they can’t come back if they leave and you can’t replace them with somebody else.
3. Two on L&D if negative, one if positive. One on postpartum. One support person can be designated for NICU if you are negative and that person can’t be changed.

You need to call and ask. I would wait until closer to due date because with cases going down there is a good chance they will relax covid policies.

1. COVID testing? do I have to go to the hospital before for testing? how does it work if I'm planning on a Epidural?
2. Can partners come and go?
3. # of visitors? Is it still just 1?
