I've been in August and don't think it is any worse than DC in August.

We wouldn't do theme parks exclusively, but have young kids so would probably want to do some of them.

What? it's all humidity.

Had to go to Florida once for family reasons in July (otherwise wouldn't ever consider going at that time of year). Only place I have ever been to where my glasses fogged up when going inside in the summer. Have had it happen a million times on cold nights in many places, of course. But the humidity difference between outdoors and the blasting A/C in hotels was such that my glasses fogged up when going in. Truly amazing.

We went to Universal Studios in mid July. It's hot/humid miserable.
BUT, the park has a lot of air conditioned, inside rides and theatre which made things decent. There were fans and air in many of the areas where you have to wait in line. I wouldn't let you stop you from going to the parks, necessarily, but Florida in April is way better than in August.

I live in Orlando. Your uncle, respectfully, is lying his face off. I will say that the humidity in DC sometimes felt worse than here because we were outside more (walking to and from metro, etc) whereas here you’re just inside or outside for much shorter time frames- because it’s miserable out

+100!!

I lived in SE FL close to the coast for a couple years and that is somewhere I actually think is somewhat bearable in the summer. Yeah, the sun is intense and it's humid, but there's a breeze and frequent afternoon storms. Whenever I had to go to Orlando or another interior location, it was just a noticeable difference and felt downright stifling.

We've been to Orlando many times throughout the year, and August is definitely worst than DC. However, they have drive throughs for everything so it's not so bad if you have little ones with you. There are also a lot of quick rain storms (so bring ponchos and extra changes of clothing) during the summer months. One place to check out if you need full A/C is the Orlando Science Museum--very affordable and can park and return all for one low price (great for coming back after DC's nap time).

We don't personally find it that much worse than DC, and its often the most convenient time for us to do Disney because of the school calendar. It all depends on your heat tolerance.

I thought the same -- that August here in DC is hellacious, how bad can Orlando. it's just a closer layer to hell.

It's pretty miserable. My parents time share week is the 3rd week of August. We did the parks year after year, it wasn't fun.

It's like the hottest, most humid DC summer day every day. Fine for hanging at the beach under an umbrella but really unpleasant for going to theme parks and walking around in the sun all day in my opinion. It also rains almost every day, just for a short time, then back to sunshine.

It’s hotter and more humid than DC. But, we usually have a breeze. And afternoon thunderstorms temporarily cool things down for a few hours most days. But, it’s still really humid. We spend a lot of the time in the pool or at the beach during the summer. We try to avoid being outdoors during the heat of the day - About 2pm-5pm.

The heat has never bothered me. But, I start to get really cold when the temps drop below about 65. I hated winter in DC.

Never been to Florida anytime but the winter. How miserable is August? Is it much worse than DC with regards to heat and humidity?
