PP, they cancelled middle school metros even though meets have been running just fine....honestly I think at some point the meet organizers are just being lazy

Here’s what annoys me about the no spectators rule: I was at GMU recently and there was a college invitational meet going on. So multiple teams there, tons of swimmer coaches etc on the pool deck. And the stands were packed shoulder to shoulder with spectators. Why is it ok for college meets to have spectators when a kids’ meet at the same pool doesn’t even let you in the building? It’s getting really old to have to try to explain to my young kid how to navigate a building they’ve never been in before to find their team area, where to go when it’s time to leave, etc. Does Covid not visit NCAA meets? I hate when policies lack common sense.

I really think they should restrict families to one volunteer slot in the first few days the sign up is out (by all means, fill it up as the meet gets close!). There is a group of parents who jump on and take spots at every single session, sometimes both parents, and I think that is quite rude in these circumstances. However, if the alternative is not getting volunteers, it’s hard to complain.
This is what NCAP does for sign ups, you are restricted to one parent and one slot, and only a slot designated for your site, until a few days before the meet. They are monitoring it too, there were people who tried to volunteer for other teams’ slots because their team’s slots were full and they had to remove their names from the slots.

UMD is hosting a pretty big high school championship meet this weekend, so I don't see why it would nix PVS champs. But they will put restrictions, like no spectators/strict mask-wearing, etc., in place.
I just saw on PVS site, that the two meets scheduled there this weekend (not HS meets) were relocated.
On the 6th? They were relocated to UMD.
And the HS meet is no spectators, but, the whole team gets to be there! Split sessions for prelims, everyone for finals. That’s a lot of folks.
I’m hoping if JO entries and Covid are reasonable come March there will be an update to one spectator. Wishful thinking, but we’ll see.

I have been loving the meets down south allowing spectators to roll in and watch. It has been amazing. I do not think MD will allow spectators anytime soon.

I was hoping they would allow a spectator …. By mid March the rates should be so low. It is disappointing.
