They are open and want your business. Chinese families go out to eat on CNY. This is not like Christmas or a Jewish holiday.

Just don’t try to order in Chinese.

If the restaurant is open you can do it - but yes - this is where I think everyone feels like they don't know what to do because everything is labeled cultural appropriate these days.

They are OPEN! Restaurants want your business!! They will be busy, though, so order, pick up and leave a nice tip.

Chinese restaurants are usually extremely busy for Lunar New Year. Many families celebrate together there. It is not a religious holiday. Of course you can order food!

And it's more than okay OP. It's good that you are trying to sensitive, but is a no-brainer really... Enjoy the food and Happy New Year! The year of Tiger!! (or tigger for your kids). You should ask for chinese zodiac thing and have fun with your kids.

It’s be worse that they are all at work anyway and no orders come in. Thanks for the idea, will order Chinese as well.
