This. I use a teaspoon here and there to flavor beans or greens, add to soups, cook eggs…you can substitute it for part of the cooking fat in any recipe. Use less then you think til used to utilizing.

Yeah I always put it in the fridge to save for frying things—seems so wasteful that we used to throw it out and then use canola oil in its place! No wonder our planet is in the shithole when we just toss things that way.

Best answer. Lots of vinegar.

OP and yes, thank you! Love it but have never made it myself.

And to the PP who asked if I truly want to eat it? Bless your heart.

This recipe always results in bowls being licked clean:

lol - yep, same here. I was aghast when I first heard about bacon jars from my Southern DH, but I’m on board now. Makes a yummy grilled cheese sandwich. Mmmmm.

I dip it in stale bread and feed it to the crows and squirrels that visit my huge yard. I only hope that they wont get heart attack in the future. The squirrels are so obese now that they look like cartoon characters with puffy cheeks and rolls of fat.

I cooked some bacon yesterday, which is a rarity in our house.

Saved the grease and I’m thinking I’ll use it for a wilted spinach salad, and cooking some green beans and Brussels sprouts.

Other good ideas I’m not thinking of?

Thanks in advance.
