What are they sleeping in now? My kids are 5 and 2.5 and share a room. My 5 yo was sleeping in her crib-turned-toddler bed while my 2.5 was still in a mini crib. When they outgrew those we got a twin bed for my 5yo and moved the 2.5yo into the crib (now a toddler bed for him, too). This arrangement should work for a few more years until they're ready for bunk beds. Their room is tiny, otherwise we'd probably just do two twin beds.

They LOVE sharing a room and ultimately I think are comforted by the other's presence which probably helps them sleep better. They are happy playing together in the morning which gives us some extra time in the mornings, too. We only occasionally have to tell them to quiet down at night, but it's so sweet to hear them chatting together while they're falling asleep.

Would love guidance on this too! How do you start getting two little ones, mine are 1.5 years and 3.5 years old and I think they would love to share a room but don't know how to get them both to sleep - they just get very excited being together and don't go to bed.

Lol, our girls (3 years apart) have their own rooms. But when I would get the younger ready for bed, the older one would get lonely and so eventually ended up sleeping together in the double bed. So when it was time to buy a new bed, we got a bunk bed. But younger dd was scared of the top, and when older dd was on the top, she again felt too “lonely” so she eventually ended up sleeping on the floor. We got a Japanese style futon mat and now she loves it and says it’s so comfortable.

Fast forward, younger dd got sick of bumping her head in the bunk bed, she also finds the futon mat to be soooo cold table, and bottom line, I have three empty beds and two girls who sleep on the floor.

I would get a bunk bed set that also works as twin beds. 4 yo can have twin now and keep the other unassembled. When younger child is old enough convert it in to bunk beds for them both.

Does the 1 year old's crib convert to a toddler bed?

The 4 year old can go into a twin all the way until you send them off to college, either find a low one or get a side rail so they don't roll out.

Floor beds or Ikea has a nice reversible one that I'm thinking of getting for my 2-year old. He never slept in a crib, always on a floor bed with guardrails and we love it. The Ikea bed would be a little fancier now that he is older. We can turn it into a loft bed in the future if he wants.

What types of beds? I want the beds to last long term. No bunks.
