Here's why it matters.

Vaccinated people, including kids, are less likely to get Covid and - importantly - spread it to vulnerable family members or teachers and school staff.

If teachers and school staff get Covid, it's disruptive even if their case is mild. They're missing school, subs are hard to find.

So -- if kids are vaccinated, there will be fewer sick people, including teachers, which means less disruption to schools. And if your priority is keeping cools open and as normal as possible, then you should be in favor of getting as many students vaccinated as possible.

That is why it matters.


As far as I'm aware, that's not true. Vaccinated or unvaccinated spread Covid at the same rate. The vaccine only protects the vaccinated person from the consequences.

FCC may be just the most judgmental place in all of NOVA. It is really the queen of group think central. In the classmates/friends I see the just too tight smiles, is that from home frustration? What about live and let live. How can our kids really have empathy toward their fellow humans when they cant see it at home. Empathy is not "you think like me or you have less than me", empathy is -its OK if you do not think like me or have more than me---

I've literally only seen one person in the facebook group who has expressed some vax concern. I don't think I would even really call her anti-vax though and it troubles me that asking questions or expressing concern gets someone smeared as 'anti-vax.' I've seen several people post thoughtful articles and comments questioning the efficacy of masks. Why do liberals want to shut down discussion and research? That seems anti-science for sure. Isn't the hallmark of a liberal scientific mind being open to new information and data and changing views and practices accordingly?

I follow the Twitter and am not seeing anti-vaxx? I saw a like of an article that touted vaccines and talked about boosters for teens and likes for other countries responses to all things COVID including vax guidelines? Clearly it’s sharing the info around world wide response and is pro mask optional but I’ve not seen anti anything. What did I miss?

I find it hysterical that people equate anti- vaxx with right wing nowadays. When my kid was younger anti- vaxx was very much a crunchy super liberal mom thing and come to think of I know a few of those in Arlington and they are still anti- vaxx and super liberal. Even funnier is that the covid anti- vaxxers have way more vaccines than the crunchy mom’s kids.

Ugh. I did not see that. I am on the FB group because I did want schools to go in person (the original reason the group was formed) and I like to know what others are thinking, especially those who I don't always agree with. There are a few vocal anti-maskers and anti-vaxxers in the group but I haven't seen the group promote these ideas per se.
