Why the hell do people still not understand that you can’t parent your way out of everything?!? You get the kid you get, can tutor as much as you want, and your kid may still suck at math. I sure as hell do.

The question really is what is wrong with the school that they haven’t caught it? My dyslexic kid went to 4th grade unable to really read. Every year from k-3, I went to the school and expressed concern and they told me she was fine. She only got help when I found $4k to have an assessment done privately.

My other kid was diagnosed with so-called stealth dyslexia after junior year of high school. She is incredibly bright and faked it through FCPS AAP without anyone knowing.

You know, there is a learning disability called dyscalculia. The student may suffer from that.

She could have slow processing speed and\or an undiagnosed learning disability. There are plenty of children who have limited parental supervision that are able to keep up with the class and not need a tutor. Something’s not right.
