Most places in Spain, especially Sevilla. I liked Barcelona a lot though.

I love LA but it’s Detroit with better weather.

A lot of very old Southern towns are like this. Maybe because of the ghosts and all the bad things that happened over the years. And those swamps, although so so crucial for conservation and native species, are very creepy.

Beijing. The air quality was so bad and everything was grey - it felt almost apocalyptic

Although honestly after 2 years of limited travel, I really can’t think of anyplace I’ve been so overrated that I wouldn’t willingly return there if it were offered to me for free.

This is heresy I know but Florence. Too crowded and touristy, did not care for Renaissance art (1000 Marys, Madonna, crucifixes, etc).

Melbourne, Australia. I don't know why but I just got such weird vibes.

Nice, France. Dirty and run down.

That made me lol , and I live there! Agree with poster above about Savannah. I also felt like New Orleans was dirty, depressing and lacking charm.

I've gotten into TikTok (I know, I know) and I see a lot of travel videos. For some reason, I see so many comments that say that Paris did not live up to expectations. Apparently, there's even a term for this - Paris syndrome. Personally, I cannot relate. My worst day in Paris is better than my best day here, lol. I imagine it's because it's many people's first experiences abroad and/or in a big city and that might be shocking to some?

But it did get me thinking about places that did not live up to expectations and why. Do you have any experiences like that?
