Over the long-term (decades), historically downtown LA has averaged ~35 days of measurable rain per year. However, I think that the past 10 year average has been much lower than that longer-term average.

NP here who feels the need to chime in. You have your LA facts wrong. Winter is our rainy season, and when it rains it hangs around for days on end. There was one winter - I think 2010 where it rained every single day for almost the entire month of December. that's just one example. Actually the average total number of rainy days in Southern California is between 45-50....not "5".


What!! NP here. We must live in different Southern Californias 😂 it does NOT rain between 45-50 days a year! Lol. 5 days is more on target.

No in 2010 it rained for 5 days straight, in December. Then nothing for about 18 months. I was there.

I agree! Without a doubt, January weather is gorgeous! Low 70s, cool breeze, clear fragrant air. It’s lovely though June.

Hello? No, that's not really the LA area, sorry. There were wildfires in 2018 that reached LA but normally they're further up state. And it's not that which pollutes the air - its the traffic.
But if you're on the coast, which is easy to do - then you have the ocean breeze, less pollution.

We lived there for years and yes, it's good. I think only one year over winter for about a week, we had to put the heating on. Otherwise never.
