I’ve told my kids that as long as they’re pursuing independently-minded goals they can stay at home as long as they want. If they’re using it to subsidize a closet tour vlog or an obsession with r/battlestations? Out on their ear.

would you support a 25 year old moving home for a year? other questions I could ask but didn't: what was your experience like having a professional living at home? anything I should know/think about?

In that situation yes. She has a plan and an end date. This is assuming both parents are ok with her being there - that she is not messy, rude, etc.

Sounds very responsible as well as productive. I’d not only support it, I’d encourage it!

Without question, my door is always open. I'd rent a uhaul and go get her. That's smart to live at home to pay off loans. Or, maybe you can pay off the loans so she can get her own place if you don't want her back. I tell my kids they will go away for college and graduate school, we will pay as best as we can and then they can move back to save money to get married/house/retirement.

Why wouldn’t I support it? My child has a reasonable, financially responsible plan. This is temporary. If I could help my child in this way, absolutely.

Of course! She us doing something productive, she has a clear plan and time horizon. Unless there are some other underlying issues that you did not mention or it is somehow a financial hardship for you, I don't understand why not. Why are you concerned?

would you support it? we live in the dmv. our daughter (turning 25 in may) is completing a graduate program in school psychology. she currently lives in Williamsburg, va. she will finish up classes this year and then has to do a yearlong (paid) internship at a school next year. it can be anywhere in the country, but she wants to move home and work at a local school to pay off her loans ($40k) and save up to move to a place of her choosing (considering west coast).
