PE is about exposing kids to new ways to stay fit/active. We've lived in NJ, PA, and now DC....all have offered archery at one grade level or another.


Haha, okay. Is archery a meaningful way for kids to stay fit? I mean, can you just pick up your long bow and meet up with some kids at the park and... arch? How many people who did the archery kept up with it, as a life sport? Not saying it's wrong, just that it surprised me!! Obviously I'm just being silly and obviously this is great if the kids love it, and (very) obviously this is a sport my school system did not expose me to. When we fully devolve into a post apocalyptic world in which we depend on Kitniss's kills for food, I'll be happy to be surrounded by so many archers.


I assume that same way that people continue to play ice hockey or squash or rowing any other activity that requires specialized equipment or playing field. Places have archery ranges and archery clubs where people go.

Know an archer who attended Harvard, think part of his admission was to help revive the sport.

I don’t think schools should be encouraging violent sports like shooting arrows. It sends the wrong message.
