My daughter took it last year and it was not bad, but you do have to document physical activity (a parent-signed form is not enough). My daughter had gymnastics practice, so the coach signed and that more than fulfilled the requirement. I think Fitbit or Apple Watch (or similar) documentation was accepted too.

Clearly something has gone wrong with our education system if kids are staying up that late to get physical education credits. How is that teaching healthy lifestyle habits?

Did they have to film themselves playing ping pong for 5 hours?

Can you explain what is hard about it? Do they need X number of minutes of physical activity a day? My kid practices about 20 hours a week in the summer. Can a coach sign off on activity or is a wrist monitor required? Is there a health unit, too?

We didn't do it but tons of my kid's friends did (we are LCPS). There were modules where they have to do certain activities. This was 3 years ago. But everyone who took it said not to do it and that it was a nightmare. One friend said they were up until 2 a.m. one night playing ping pong. Again, maybe they put it off or something, but these were generally kids who can handle school, and many of them were varsity athletes so it wasn't that they weren't active enough.

Probably check with friends who've done it more recently, but don't assume it's going to be easy or not time-consuming is what I'd say.

THe provider is Virtual Virginia. The school registers the student and the student's parents are responsible for paying the cost. THe don't advertise the option very well because they don't want students to take it in the summer.

Why not? I hate the micro managing in NOVA.

It's not NOVA, its APS.
Fairfax county offers it in the summer.
ACPS offers 25th hour for PE during the year instead of during summer. It's independant PE with checkins throughout the year.

Id like to know as well for PE 9, 10 and the Personal Finance Course, I know some school districts offer it themselves but I do not believe all do.

Post 01/24/2022 12:49     Subject: Summer PE 10 through Virtual Virginia

Does anyone have any experience with summer PE through Virtual Virginia? My rising 10th grader wants to take it this summer to have the freedom to add an elective that they really want next year. My kid is a year round athlete, so I'm not worried about lack of physical exercise. I'm just wondering if it can be completed while we are on vacation. Do I need to plan our summer vacation around the class or can it be completed anywhere since it's virtual? Thanks!
