Depends if they are vaccinated and close contacts, etc. Either way they still need to be paid.

Interesting. I don't get paid at my job if I have to take off due to an exposure. I don't have a job I can do from home.

Ours refunds 50% for any days in excess of 14 per month. Teachers get paid during a quarantine. I hope and believe we will be closer to normalcy with quarantines soon as more counties and states take up the revised CDC guidance.

I pay full BUT my daycare has only been closed for a total of five days due to COVID since I started in November 2020. So I’ve been able to take time off work to cover it without too much trouble. I think smaller daycares might close less?

We pay full for the first two days, then half.

Thanks all - helpful to confirm that the norm is paying full. Agree that it seems unfair to the teachers, but also hard to justify spending $2.5-3K a month if the room is going to be closed for any amount of time. Tough time for parents!

Ours charged full tuition.

We pay full. And then pay for short term nannies when we can. We are bleeding money but I wouldn’t want to take it from the daycare workers - they are underpaid and that won’t help staffing shortages.

We still pay full. I have heard of the half pay and completely agree that it's not fair to the teachers.

As nice as that sounds as a parent, it would concern me about the quality of the daycare. What are they doing during that time - only paying their teachers half? They are terribly underpaid as it is.

You still pay full. It sucks, but it is what it is.

For prolonged closures (like 4 months at a time during 2020 OG Covid, pre-vaccines) I've heard of daycares waiving tuition payments. But that was when they could get federal PPP loans.

I had assumed I would just need to pay full tuition even in the case of a closure but a daycare I just toured charges half when there is a closure.

What have others' experiences been? Are there daycares out there that don't charge anything during a closure? TIA!
