My DS works at a fast food restaurant, taking orders outside. Pretty tough during the winter.

Lifeguard, restaurant and retail.

I did babysitting and while in college I worked as a tour guide. My daughter has done babysitting and lifeguarding. I think her lifeguard position in particular has been good experience because she had to complete training and get certifications, also had to enforce COVID protocols in 2020. The job also requires customer service skills when working at front desk and physical labor cleaning pool decks, bathrooms etc.

I babysat, then worked in department stores, then took two jobs over the summers: a truck stop diner (mammas, don't let your babies take this job; the night shift is no place for a young lady), and a restaurant. DH had a paper route from about age 10 through 18 and got summer construction jobs. DS1 did random pet sitting, then was a lifeguard from age 15 on and taught swim lessons. So far, DS2 mines bit coin and "manages" his stock portfolio (not kidding, lol).

Baby sitter, lifeguard and swim instructor, camp counselor, coach (their sport does a league, plus day off camps where they taught younger kids)

Another benefit is that these are actually good skills to have. DH has a white collar job but he also does things like lay concrete for our walkway. I do fold burritos really well but that’s about all Taco Bell has done for me.

I was a waitress (at Friendly's Ice cream/sandwich shop). It was a pretty hard job TBH. You are on your feet for hours, and believe me, customers can be very demanding.

My DD did not work for pay before college. She is a senior (in college now) and has since had two paid internships. She tried to get camp counsellor and retail jobs before those, and also volunteered in a lab.

Between my 3 kids - baby sitting, lifeguard, camp counselor in training, tutor

My current junior worked at a country club pool cafe last summer. It was all high school and college kids so it wasn't bad except when the college kids left to go back to school. That left 4 high schoolers working like dogs for the last few weeks of the summer.

Piano teacher, tutoring, babysitting and fast food. All were valuable experiences.

My kids have been camp counselors and lifeguards (obviously this needs special training).

I think that retail is also a very valuable experience!

Baby-sitter/nanny, two retail jobs, Little League umpire, back office and snack shack at the golf course. I enjoyed them all, but the golf course was the most fun!

Cashier at grocery store, retail at clothing store, worked at ice cream store, camp counselor.
