Yes, we want to keep working and don't want to have to take any tests to do so. We can work in Virginia.

I know I am dreaming too big. We have some years to go. We are so sandwiched now that it helps me to dream of a different life. Plus I like the idea of not doing to our kids what our parents did to us.

My parents moved to a continuing care community near their hometown in PA and it's been a godsend for them and for their children.

OP here. Yes! Also, ideally a ranch style house, not apartment or townhouse. Years ago, a friend of mine had a terrible situation with an apartment situation her mom was in where another elderly person burned down her apartment the whole building was ruined.

PS free concerts nightly at the beachfront every night and lots of free concerts off seasons for locals plus art shows etc. Several local farmers and fish markets. Fresh shrimp at inlet for $6 lb in fall, sweetest we’ve ever had. Also Pungo, a 10 min drive full of pick your own farm stands.

Blacksburg/Christiansburg

We moved to VA beach and have enjoyed it more than we anticipated. Not as diverse as Nova but there are international groceries.

We want a continued care community from independent living to the end

*Safe walking distance to restaurants, grocery stores, theaters, trails etc so we don't need a car

*Not far from hospital and good medical care

*Reasonably close to an airport

*Health living is valued-restaurants and food stores have healthy options and many types of foods (Indian, Greek, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Turkish)

*A Local Farmer's market would be great

*For the independent living community-a place where some people still work. We will probably be working part time by then so it would be nice to not be the only ones

*Safe to drive around if we keep our car. Things around here are getting too wild and everyone's in a hurry.

*Culturally diverse.

*Outdoor concerts and other events in the summer

*Price is no object because if it's expensive we would just get a much smaller place.
