You can find a wide range of native speaker teachers who do group lessons or 1-1 and it's review based so it's easy to find an excellent teacher. DS progressed greatly last year due to the weekly 1-1 lessons!

Could you recommend the specific teacher you used?

Is it better to watch TV in English with Spanish subtitles or watch it in Spanish with English subtitles?

Neither. Spanish with Spanish subtitles.

DP. How do you find a Spanish tutor who is familiar with MCPS curriculum?

Languages are meant to be acquired, not explicitly taught. A good tutor will work on immersion and implicit learning, not teaching to a curriculum. This sort of attitude is why Americans are last in the world for speaking a second language.

i've used college students as spanish tutors. you can advertise at job boards for local universities. not sure why they need to be familiar with the school curriculum?

Homeschool Spanish Academy- ignore the word homeschool in their name. Classes (with a different curriculum) for all ages. Affordable

Have you tried iTalki? Tutors in their native countries. We’ve had a good experience with that.

My DS would like to keep up his Spanish over the summer so he's ready for Spanish 3 next year. Any recommendations on where to do this or would be hiring a tutor be the best? In Bethesda. Thanks!
