If you're ready for a new car, get a Toyota. It's basically the same car and you won't have this worry.

If your Lexus is still serving you well, keep it. Don't wash it often and no one will think you're rich with a ten year old dirty car.

I don’t think a Lexus IS that conspicuous, especially 9 years old. I live in a neighborhood with mostly “normal” cars, and I’ve thought a lot about how if I got a fancy car, it would be really odd in this neighborhood. But I’m thinking like a shiny Audi or a Tesla or something. There are a couple people around here with older luxury sedans and they’re not flashy cars that stick out. Also, I don’t think that Lexus logo or look is very noticeable - for some reason Lexuses just don’t stick out to me.

You're overthinking things. You WILL be an outsider when you first move, and WON'T be from there. There's nothing wrong with that. Own your choices. All of them.

This would never cross my radar. Do you like the car? Keep driving it. When you’re in the market for a new car, presumably you won’t buy another one if the closest dealership is 5 hours away.

In a place where most people aren't wealthy, I'm afraid of being targeted because the car "looks wealthy". I'm also a single woman, so maybe I am more concerned about safety than you are, and a POC whose ethnic group has been the target of crimes lately.
