There is already an EDP National League and if you want to play a regional powerhouse, go to a regional tournament like CASL, JefCup, etc. Let's stop the travel.

For national glory. The top 64 clubs anywhere have loaded schedules. This doesn't take over that, especially if you lose your region. I can see a national title being distracting for those that get to finals.

Ecnl is already a national league w playoffs. Do they want to replace their own national playoff system with one managed by USYS? What would be the point? To allow the 3 GAL clubs that are competitive nationally w ecnl across all age groups to participate? Again, not trying to be snarky, what’s the benefit for ecnl?

To me, and maybe I’m way off here, it’s like if the MLS created a global Champions League to replace the current CL and begging Real Madrid, Chelsea, etc. to participate for “glory”.

I have to agree with the OP because it's top clubs, not teams. Who defines the clubs? And we all know that certain age groups in the same club can have very different performance levels. The top team in the age group below DS has one of the top teams in the nation. Another age group - same club - can barely crack the top 30 in Virginia but since this is a really good club does that mean that age group that is doing badly would now be considered one of those top 64 elite teams?

Agreed on that front. Teams are a much better way to do this.

As far as I'm concerned, the more competition among leagues, the better.
