We bought a rava for the same reason (extended rear facing) and plan to keep my son rear facing as long as possible. Have another on the way and they will be about 2 years apart. Was planning on a second rava but maybe I can get something cheaper because by the time #2 outgrows the rear facing limits, #1 will be ready to turn around. Truly this idea hadn’t crossed my mind.
My sister has a Graco Slim Fit and a Diono in her Camry and prefers the Graco!
OP here. Yes, my kids are 2 years apart too. My older child is perfectly happy rear facing for now, so I would love to wait until 3.5 or 4 before turning her around. I think my baby will outgrow the infant seat before she’s ready to turn around, so can’t go straight to a high backed booster but definitely looking for options that are better for leapfrogging the Nuna to whichever kid needs to still be rear facing.
The Graco Slim Fit 3 in 1 also goes from rear facing to forward facing to high back booster. Compared to diono, my sister says it has an easier install and her younger one seems comfier than her older did in the diono.

Anonymous wrote:you could also get the older child a rear-facing that goes into a high back booster (the diono does that) and give the rava to the baby. You will need a high back at some point, so you could buy just that one.
