OP. That's exactly my point. There are several seats like that. Just expand that plan to the districts where it matters.

There has been some talk of this for Wyoming-- for Dems to register as Republicans to help Liz Cheney fend off a primary challenge.

I hope they do it. It's not like Dems are ever going to win that seat in the general election anyway, and Liz Cheney is bringing b*lls of steel to the work of the 1/6 Commission.

Sun Tzu would approve of this plan. But Democrats are too inept to implement it or even communicate it effectively without crouching into a defensive position in the media.

My suggestion was to have democrats pretend to be the traditional conservatives just for the purpose of getting rid of the Trump-leaning nominees.

Regardless of how powerful Trump is, if it doesn't translate to seats in the House and Senate, he can't do sh*t. There are enough Republicans that hate Trump and actually have the firepower to stand against him in the Senate/House where it matters. I'm talking about helping them win. Rather than try to win against, say, Mitt Romney, why not just help to make sure he stays. I get that he's not a "friend" in the long run but he's a "friendlier enemy" compared to the alternative.

Why not though? All they need are 10 senate seats where Republicans have a strong likelihood of winning, carpet bomb them with ads targeted at democrats asking them to register as Republicans, and vote for the "good" candidate in the primaries. Why even bother being secretive about this?

Why can't Democrats register as Republicans (if requred) in certain states where there's an anti-Trump Republican incumbent (e.g. Romney, Murkowski, Cheney), vote in the Republican primaries to make sure the anti-Trump nominee wins. After this is done, at the general election, they can of course vote for whoever they want. I'm sure the Republicans may do the same but that should be OK with the Democratic party? Why is this not a strategy that they aren't pushing for? They don't even have to be secretive about it.
