I went last week, there was no line whatsoever and no ID was required so you can have anyone take it in. The self serve kiosk in Takoma had no line but my car wasn’t eligible since it wasn’t inspected previously (since it was brand new when first registered in DC). Then I drove to the Half St location and was out in 5 mins, it was amazing. I can remember waiting in line for four hours in the 1990s. They only test emissions now, no other safety checks, it’s quick.

Go to the self service inspection station in takoma, it is very easy
