I would keep a whole color scheme in mind when picking a wall color - we have done combos like khaki, navy, and white; red, white, and blue (think superheroes or madras plaid, not Americana); navy, green, and white, etc.

I like Benjamin Moore paints so I would consider some shades like AF545, AF695 (looks more blue than grey in our space), HC123, HC154, HC81, etc.

You sound very stylish, like the adult I wish grew up to be. I like the green HC123 though.

We have a grey nursery. With white decals and white framed art. You can always get colored decals and bedding/pillows and a kid rug.

Also in terms of inspiration - imo the nursery is for YOU. So make it as soothing as possible for you. Do you like to gaze at plants? Is there a piece of art you love in another room? Put it in there. Then when he’s walking you strip some of those things out to make it for him. Toddlers need bare rooms anyway so they don’t destroy everything. When he’s old enough to handle it, you can add decor back in to his liking via new bedding, art, decals, stuff like that.

I have BM gray sky in my baby’s room. It’s a beautiful, soft blue. Looks great with white furniture. Probably wouldn’t last to the teens though.

If you just want to keep it simple go for one of the popular beiges, like BM pale oak.

Having a baby boy in May and planning to repaint what will become his bedroom. The room has classis hardwood floors (white oak?) and white trim that is in reasonable shape. Ideally, I would like a color that could grow with him rather than being too definitively baby. I'm just zapped these days between COVID school closures, holiday hang over, and snow, but if I don't get things going now, it will be a hot mess. Feel free to pitch a whole theme if you are looking for ways to procrastinate or just got vetoed or something; I'm sort of searching for inspiration to get excited about the project.
