Fun story. An in -aw in my family had a mother who used a hair dryer as a white noise machine when said in-law was a baby. As in... all night long. Said in-law is now a grown up, but until married and spouse put a stop to it... they were still falling asleep with a hair dryer left on.
Will never stopped being amazed they are alive.

OMG!

Yikes, see if there are other complaints and warnings online concerning this product. I personally didn’t like the dryer - felt it was too hot and damaging to my hair. If there are many others saying this happened to them, everyone should heed this warning. I would take a picture of the damaged dryer and contact Revlon. A complete refund is the least they can do, if not more, from the potential damage and devastation that could have occurred.

Did you buy it off amazon? Those are counterfeit.

NP but could you telll me more about the Drybar one? Is it similarly heavy and big? I like the Revlon in concept, but I hate how big and heavy it is. It also fries my hair on hot, but isn't powerful enough on low.

I’ve actually thought about posting here if I’m the only one who has bad luck with hair dryers. I’ve never had one that didn’t end up sketchy after a few years, mostly fancy ones. No literal flames, but burnt smells, weird noises, and constantly popping the circuit interruptor button on the outlet.

Yeah I’ve had this happen before with a fancy one. I think it’s from the west and tear ok the wiring. I don’t mean using it a lot, I mean the banging the unit in a drawer, dropping on the counter/floor, lacing it hard on the counter, etc. I don’t know for sure, but I think it comes from that.

I have lots of thick hair and this happened to me all the time. I used to run through a hair dryer per year (no matter the brand) when buying models less than about $50. I switched to high end models with more powerful motors and it made a real difference for me. Good luck.

Just a word to the wise! My DCUM cult favorite Revlon hair dryer had been acting strange for a few weeks and in retrospect I should have stopped using it. The motor seemed to be running at uneven speeds. This morning I was using it and suddenly it made a loud popping noise, followed by a small flame shooting out of the bottom where the cord meets the dryer. I dropped it in the sink, unplugged it and it burned for a few seconds. I’ve only had it for two years. Just a warning in case you have one. I’m going to send it to Revlon to see if they can diagnose it.
