Girl or boy? Is s/he into any sports?

I agree at that age a pre-school program or somewhere that you send them the whole summer is best.

We had good luck with Home Run for a just turned 5 year old. My kids LOOOOOOVED baseball and had a blast. And it’s outside the whole summer.

My daughter loved ESF last year, so we're going back this year. I was pretty nervous since she had been home for over a year, but she loved it.

OP, it's hard without location. We are on Capitol Hill and the preschool-age summer camp options include the Northeast Stars Montessori school, the Hill Havurah school, Busy Bees at Hill Center, and several church based programs.

I've found that your best option is to do as PP suggested and look into local preschools. A lot of the summer camp options will be half day, but preschools that offer a full day program during the year are more likely to offer a full day camp (and may also offer before and after care for an additional fee).

Also, look closely at age requirements. My DC has a summer birthday and sometimes that means we can do a camp earlier than we thought, and other times it means we have to wait an extra year. If they aren't clear on age requirements, just contact them.

Oh, and if you are just looking for week long camps, look at activities geared at your kid's age group. We've seen ballet camps, soccer camps, and arts camps for preschool-K age, but these are usually just a one week program with some kind of demo on the Friday. It's a good way to get your kid fun exposure to an activity, but it's not a childcare option if that's what you're looking for.

Find a Preschool like Kindercare or something along those lines.

At that age, somewhere that you can stay for the whole summer is best, like a preschool that offers a summer program, Salsa with Silvia, or anywhere else that will have a stable routine throughout the summer. Too many transitions is hard on kids at that age, and they're not old enough to have specific interests that make robotics/dance/swim or whatever camp specifically appealing.
