We played outdoors last year in 30° weather. It was cold but the girls and boys toughed it out. That being said, there’s many field still closed because they’re covered in snow. You can’t easily remove snow from the turf field or it will damage them.

My kid is signed up for outdoor rec soccer. I would understand if it was cancelled, but would be happier to play. That's what I expected when I signed up for outdoor soccer in the winter. My kid would be excited to tough it out and the exercise is good. If there is not snow and ice and the fields are safe I want the game to be on. If some kids don't show up I am okay with it, but the league shouldn't cancel.

yes to the hat and gloves in this weather.

Must have a decent base layer and a proper warm-up..A pulled hamstring or quad could keep you out up to 10 weeks. Is it worth playing in a crappy winter league and risking missing part of your spring season ?

Depends somewhat on the age of the players. For high schoolers I wouldn't expect a game should be cancelled due to cold unless maybe it's windy with wind chill advisories in place (sub zero wind chills). For younger kids probably low to mid 20s.

I guess it depends on the league, but my DD was in an early March tournament a few years ago and it was in the 20's with a windchill in the teens. Pretty miserable, but the games went on.

Any "feels like" temp below 25 degrees is too cold.

low 20's is too cold. If you wear enough layers you will be fine.

I'd say under 30 is too cold. Can layer up all you want, kids on bench will absolutely freeze.

No experience with this temperature (we’ve played in the 30s), but I’d be concerned about rolling an ankle on a frozen ground if playing on grass.

Otherwise, layer up and grab a hat and gloves.

At what temperature does it just become stupid to have a match? Tracking a couple outdoor matches this Saturday and temps will only be in mid-20s at kickoff. Too cold? Is there a threshold where leagues say it's too cold to play? Or will they play regardless in your experience?
