+1 I LOVE mine for all those reasons - plus it's so light that I can throw it in my bag and not notice the extra weight

PP who upgraded from Paperwhite to Oasis here. The lighting is better, the battery life is better, the feel in the hand is better, and the waterproof thing has saved me more than once. I’m a bathtub reader

Oooh, Oasis is waterproof! I never want any new stuff, especially not new tech, but I want this.

I upgraded before Covid from an old basic kindle (6th or 7th gen?) to an Oasis. Got whiplashed but very happy with it.

I hated ereaders, until I received Oasis for a mother day gift. I hardly buy real books anymore. I leave it in airplane mode and the battery last for a long time. I can read 100% in the dark and my eyes do not get tired or strained.

Wow, I hadn't heard about the Oasis. That looks NICE. I have used a Paperwhite for years and I love it. But that Oasis is calling to me.

The oasis has more even lighting and a crisper screen

NP here - I've got an ancient Kindle fire. I read a ton, mostly late at night in bed in the dark but also at the beach or on travel in before times. I like that the Fire has a web browser (DCUM and Twitter addict!) although I guess it's not essential.

I keep waffling between the paperwhite and the Oasis. Any pros/cons?

I hadn’t considered the Oasis, because I am happy with the basic model, but I’ll definitely compare if I decide to upgrade!

My basic (I think 10th gen) has a light.

I’ve been reading on my basic Kindle happily for about 6 months. I bought when it was about $50 because I wasn’t sure I’d enjoy ebooks, but I’m hooked.

I don’t store the books I read. I have Kindle Unlimited. I mainly read indoors, in bed, or outside on our deck when it’s nice out. I haven’t had an issue. But like I said, I’m hooked! Is there really any benefit to the Paperwhite? Sell me, or dissuade me!
