I have installed solar panels on two different homes I've owned, and I drive an EV, and I still find Musk's public persona so off-putting that I really dislike him even though he's primarily in the business of solar panels and EVs (well, and rocket ships). I give him a lot of credit for pushing competitors to try to catch up to Tesla, but at this point, I can't tell if he's actually helping or hurting the overall causes. (And you have to wonder whether just holding as much Bitcoin on Tesla's books for as long as he did offset a significant amount of the energy savings his companies have helped people realize.)


+1. I don’t care so much about Musk’s persona or politics (well I sort of care about that). But his scattershot management makes me worry about reliability, and his dedicated Tesla charger nozzles have increased costs for everybody fuel station, and he just won’t give on those. I got a VW ID.4.

Steve Jobs, Jeff Bezos, Bill Gates, were/are all visionaries. Whether or not they're pleasant in real life is moot. Elon Musk has gifts but he's way too scattered and unstable to be part of that pantheon and as a result, his companies haven't made quite as reliable products.

Teslas have lots of issues, and I do not trust Elon Musk to handle them. So I will never buy a Tesla, even though I support the development of electric transport (air, land, sea).

My next car will be an electric one, but not a Tesla.

They take forever to be made. New TX Gigafactory could make production faster but I heard there is a chip shortage. If you want a Tesla in a year, order one sooner than later! I ordered in August and am about to get mine now!

I figured since new cars weren't discounting and if anything were charging extra money, that now would be a good time to get it! Was always wanting one. Getting the Y with third row! (Also I'm paying a few K less as I ordered before a lot of price increases)

I don't think prices will drop, maybe they will come out with less expensive versions...

My nephew just sold his six month old Tesla for $9k more than he paid for it new. It’s crazy.

I would never buy any car ride ght now. Things are too crazy. I'd try to wait until 2025 or beyond. The supply chain issues and prices for new and used cars are just dumb.

Tesla prices are going up because they can get the money.

It's an interesting question whether that will last as more car models come on the market from more manufacturers at the same or cheaper prices.

My personal opinion after watching the prices of cars, I would say the higher used prices will eventually come down. However, new car prices tend to go up each year looking historically at Tesla and other manufacturers. When you decide to jump in will depend on your own needs.

The model y has gone up from 50k to $60k. How likely are the prices to come down once the supply chain issues are resolved say in a year? Or do you think k they are going to stay at $60k ( or higher). We are looking to buy the Y but can definitely put it off another year or so. Our trusty venza hit 135k miles but has life left in it. However, if prices are going to keep going up, I guess we'd rather buy now. Thoughts?
