Yeah, it’s not going to fall out-that’s just not the way it works

I did for transfer (4th stuck!) and they said the same thing to me but during my 2nd, I took my time and waited 10 minutes just to feel better about it. After IUIs at CFA, I also took my time getting up. Transfers were done at a different clinic. BTW, I think my transfer didn’t work because my embryos were untested and/or estrogen was off during the medicated cycles. 4th transfer I switched to semi-medicated (no estrogen) and my estrogen levels were so much better when they checked me day of transfer and 4dpt (before it was first too low so I had to take more estradiol and then too high). Trial and error.

I once asked my RE this. They said technically once it's in, it's not going to fall out no matter if you're standing, laying down, jumping, etc. They said they have people lie down for 2-5 mins after for psychological reasons and peace of mind, but it really doesn't make a difference. Sorry it did not stick this time.

I think CCRM Tysons had me lay down for about 15 minutes after the transfer?

+1 I think they told us to stay for a few minutes and then it was up to us when you leave. Two successful transfers at SGF.

My first transfer didn't work, but #2 and 18 months later #3 both worked. I did before and after acupuncture with both my successful transfers (they were across the hall from SGFC). My RE said there's really only anecdotal evidence that it works but said it certainly wouldn't harm my odds - so I went for it and it made ME feel much better. And then both those cycles worked.

I got up and peed then came back and did acupuncture in the room. It was very relaxing. I know you cant pee out the embryo, but I was so nervous peeing right afterwards lol.

I was also instructed to immediately get up and use the bathroom. My doctor said the embryo/uterus are like "a grain of sand in a peanut butter sandwich."

My experience was just like you described and my transfer was successful. The uterus is like an deflated balloon and that embryo isn’t “falling out” if you stand up right after!

I didn't lie down directly after for either transfer and they were both successful. The 2nd transfer I laid down after I got home and got my first posterior placenta (pregnancy #3).

There is no research that I'm aware of that recommends lying down for an extended period after a transfer. I had three transfers, all of which resulted in implantation, and I didn't lie down for more than a few minutes after each transfer. I used the bathroom immediately after. I took it easy the rest of the day but didn't bed rest. In fact there is research suggesting that bed rest may cause adverse outcomes.

I wonder if the success rate would improve with at least a few hours of still bed rest right after the insertion?

I had my transfer at CFA a couple months ago. Right after they inserted the embryo, they had me go to the bathroom and then after that get up, change, and leave. I thought we had to lie down for at least five minutes but the nurse was like you can go. I found this odd. The procedure was so quick that I had to wait for my ride outside sitting. I would have preferred lying down. My transfer failed and wondering if I should have been lying down. Did anyone have the same experience? Are you supposed to just get up and leave?
