Just posting here as not to clutter with another thread about similar topic. We are IB for SH and were shut out of BASIs and similar schools (for which 5th was the entry grade) last year.
While we think SH is an acceptable solution and will send our daughter there if nothing else is available, we would like to play the lottery anyhow.

How would you list middle schools (w/ or w/o good HS options)? I fully understand that chances tend to 0 except
maybe for the Latin new campus for many or most options. I would like to play for the impossible schools too since we are OK with IB if it comes to it.

Criteria: Decent school, not too far from Capitol Hill if possible, decent HS option if included would be best. My kid is average, on grade-level, smart but not particularly gifted, definitely NOT athletic or very artistic. OK with Spanish but DD is not fluent, so she would need to start on a "basic" language track.

Latin -- they're opening a new campus, so you'd have a good chance getting in for 6th.

I thought BASIS and DCI only took kids entering 5th and OP's kid is already in 5th.

DCI starts in 6th.

OP- the move will be in two years. My daughter has special needs and is thriving in elementary school after a rough start and misdiagnosis, so we want to make sure she finishes where she is thriving. Son is the "easier" kid, and I will send him to Elliot if none of these pans out.

Honestly, why not move right now?

I would not attend CHM for this purpose. I think Inspired or Two Rivers or S-H would work. Maybe Truth but you might find that a rough commute.

If you're looking to get into an application high school, you'll need decent PARCC scores. That's why people care about the test results.

OP, I'd look into Digital Pioneers, Sojourner Truth, and Cap City.

Everyone on here seems to have something negative to say about Capital Hill Montessori not quite sure why other than the test results. I was going to put this school on my list.
