I’m less worried about dying from Covid, but I feel like long Covid is still a risk, now that we have omicron spreading so easily. DH told me that there’s a new delta-omicron hybrid variant detected, for anyone who needed a concrete example of what happens when it’s left to spread amongst the unvaccinated.

Now my daughter is having panic attacks because she’s afraid of it spreading through her school, but she’s also dealing with anxiety from fear of having to go back to virtual learning. It’s all crappy, all the choices are wrong, and it might not have been prevented but it darn well could have been minimized if people would make good choices.

I am so fed up with anti vax propaganda … family chats ruined by anti vax nonsense … why are we still debating this when there are over 800 k dead and the vast majority are unvaccinated? Ditto for masking …

No, it’s other weeks from the fall (stayed home with a cold that wasn’t covid) and the spring (stayed home for five days in order to visit a relative with cancer) not just this event. I took this week and my husband took last, just bad timing for me to be taking another week.

Why are you hung up on this? What’s the confusion? Many parents have had to take random weeks off in the last two years for these kinds of things. It does get grinding. OP didn’t say it’s only been the last two weeks.

My aunt was just found dead today in her apartment.
She had a bad case of bronchitis last week, with fever, then seemed to get better, and then no news for 3 days until her son finally checked on her.

She had refused to get vaccinated. She was in her 70s, obese, and a recent stage 4 breast cancer survivor.

It was probably Covid. I don't know if a doctor will prescribe a post-mortem test, but I want them to, in the hope that her son will finally decide to get vaccinated himself. He's 50 and works in a nursing home.

I am so sad.

Personally I would take her to swim and have the party. If it can’t be outdoors, then shrink the guest list, ask only the vaccinated to come and request an at home test the day of the event.
