BUL Korean is awesome in Adams Morgan. Their sweet fried chicken, noodles and dumplings are amazing and Bulgogi tacos too!

Bombay Bistro in Rockville is my favorite for takeout. Indian food travels so so well.
Also, Uncle Julio’s has made great progress in takeout since the start of the pandemic and their family meals of fajitas are really good.
(Obviously I am not in DC— in the Rockville area)
And Chinese of course is always good for takeout.

I might get flamed for this, but cactus cantina does a good job packing up their meals, and you cannot beat their margarita packages. I don't know how they make their cheese dip (velveeta, probably), but it is addictive.

Roaming Rooster. The fried chicken club sandwich was very very good.

Mei Wah is my go-to restaurant for Chinese food.

Halal Guys is a favorite, as is Zorba’s Cafe near DuPont Circle — which also means a stop at Un JeNe Sais Quoi for pastries.

Unconventional Diner's Fried Chicken Feast. It's a great deal and always good. But obviously not super healthy.

Mintwood had a good family package but I don't think they have it anymore unfortunately.

Masala Art in Tenley is our favorite Indian food. We’re out of delivery range but well worth the drive to pick up.

Sprig and Sprout in Glover Park is great.

And you can’t go wrong with Rocklands.

Roti has a pretty decent family meal for $50. Would love to hear options for places that have a set price for a family meal like there was a lot of at the beginning of the pandemic.

Good thread. There are so many meals that I am disappointed with for takeout. The meat almost always tastes like leather when you get it home.
Peruvian chicken does travel very well.
We’re in MD and I think the fish taco burritos travel well—the actual tacos don’t travel great.
Indian food, especially veg, travels well. And sushi of course.

District Rico's Peruvian chicken meals are excellent. We've also done great greek plates from Zorba's Cafe and excellent Indian from Masala Story but that might be touch and go with the nuts.

I'll give some credit to &pizza and Sweetgreen, they constantly run $5 off promotions through delivery apps. My kids love the Chicken pesto and Caesar salad at SG.

Shake Shack is consistently at our door in regular order but they don't take special orders well.

Unconventional Diner I like, but my husband only likes the chicken parm, he thinks the other stuff is trying too hard to be fusion.

Federalist Pig wings and sandwiches are amazing. KoChix is great but totally unhealthy.

Momiji is excellent sushi.

We enjoyed Cava Mezze in DC until their Barracks Row shop closed in the last few weeks.

District Taco is great but I haven't seen family meals from them.

Do we eat out too much? Maybe, but being together for this many days in a row has been a grind.

Are you looking for mom and pop? I try to support those outfits in particular, but they are very neighborhood specific. If not limited to that, I admit the Jose Andres empire does an excellent job with takeout and family meals. He doesn't need the money, but I also don't feel bad about supporting him and his World Central Kitchen efforts globally. Zaytinya, Jaleo, and Oyamel all usually have options for family meals.

The F&b industry as we know is on the rails. We are trying to order family dinner out twice a week for either delivery or pickup. What is the best takeout you have had in the last 6 months? Extra credit for in DC and nut free [ie I love Asian food but it might make my kid anaphylaxtic.]
