Even if that’s what it is, young Elementary students get to socialize and interact with each other. I have been more concerned about the social interactions that my now 2nd grader was deprived of for 18 months. Kids learn through playing and at that age play and being around your classmates is very important.

They’re not going to be “playing.” They’re going to be doing busy work and work sheets and math/reading computer games on chrome books. I know you have not been inside a school due to the pandemic, but those of us who had kids do 2nd grade in the before times know that this is not preschool.

I am well aware this is not preschool. But kids still get to interact. They still have recess and specials. Thats way better than being stuck at home by yourself in front of a computer

If maps put out the same plan, there would be 20 pages of complaints.

Almost spit out my coffee. FCPS has been closed for snow this entire week. They haven’t had any person learning yet. Mcps was actually open on 1.5 days for most schools this week.

They have a babysitting schedule and a pipe dream that includes hoping snow conditions remain long enough as to see case counts begin to reduce, and employing staffing ideas that have been going on all year. But if it makes some feel better, more power to them.

Question - Do you think that is a new novel idea, or one they and countless other districts have been doing all school year?

Lololol. Because you think what 100% asynchronous learning is going to be done in school buildings and not virtual?

No they came up with a glorified babysitting plan. Is this what you want?

Let's see how this works for them. It's in their best interest to be in person, as I remember, their virtual rollout was a complete disaster, and included finger pointing between the superintendent and the IT regarding updates on the system that were not up to date.

Yes combining classrooms with asynchronous learning is a genius plan. I’d just pull my kid out at that point.
