This was the message - please point out the reason given:
"All ACPS schools will be closed for in-person and virtual learning and extracurricular activities tomorrow, Thurs., Jan. 6, 2022. All staff will participate in a virtual workday."


Right, they did not give a reason. If the reason was that some roads are still unsafe, or they did not have staffing due to COVID, I take no issue with it. I just want an explanation.

And isn’t it great that we know all these things as opposed to the trash communication from ACPS? It’s embarrassing.

ACPS parents aren't in an uproar about the positivity rate at ACPS schools because we have no idea what it is. There is no test required to return, no testing of staff, no testing centers at schools, etc. Ignorance is bliss.

Arlington, Fairfax, Prince William, Fauquier, Stafford, and King George counties have all closed their schools tomorrow because of road conditions and power outages. Guessing there was insufficient staff because believe it or not, teachers actually do commute from these locales.

I’m happy that they seem to have realized that “virtual snow days” weren’t working and they weren’t too proud to pivot. I’d be much happier if they admitted it explicitly. Would also be nice to have an explanation for tomorrow’s closure—is it road conditions, staff shortages, or what? Weird to cancel school with no explanation.

ACPS communication at it's finest. Is finding a competent communication director really all that difficult? Does anyone proof check what gets sent out? They need someone that understands messaging, audience, tone, etc.? Arlington's reason for closing was truly terrible, but at least they owned up to the terrible reason. ACPSs silence is somehow worse, it just shows a complete lack of respect.
