You’re welcome to join us. Just don’t gasp when you hear 150 lbs is our ideal weight.

OP here: For those of you who do intermittent fasting, how do you time it? I don’t want to model disordered eating to my kids, so I do want to sit down to dinner with them (6:30-7ish). I also rely on coffee with cream in the am. How would you schedule around those two things?

A thread for me! 5’11” and 185 lbs. I’m 55 and weighted 140 through my mid 30s. Got up to 200 about 10 years ago (PCOS). Exercised down to 150lbs, but the weight has crept up. Diet alone doesn’t work, I must exercise too. Okay m still a size 12ish, but I carry my weight in the middle which is t healthy

I have a tall daughter, 5'10" and she gets her jeans at Old Navy. Tall/long - and orders them online.

At the Gap, the tall straight jeans tend to be long enough for me. Those are what I wear when I want a full-length jean. I think I have a 34 or 35 inch inseam.

BTW, Gap carries talls in stores. J Crew I have to order online. Their Vintage Straights are my favorites right now but they run really large; I’m generally a 10 now and their 29s are roomy. You’d probably need a 28.

Thank you - are they true to size? I must order online b/c the shops don't carry.

I’m over 6 feet and mid 50s and trying to not gain. To those using intermittent fasting, I recommend trying to exercise daily even if just a brisk walk or a 7 min workout.

DH and I did Whole 30 a year ago for health reasons and I lost about 5 lbs and was able to keep it off until this winter eating normally. It really helped clean up my sugar addiction. Hard to do though if you have kids still at home or a busy schedule.

I know - i feel like carrying 40 extra lbs and still looking like a coat hanger is my super power!

I will look at American Eagle b/c jeans.

Hello my talk friends! I’m 5’11” too and just had a drs appt yesterday and weighed in at 181. So bummed, but I had a great, delicious holiday season.

I too am better with intermittent fasting. I lost 12 pounds last winter and kept it off until Halloween when my sweet tooth dragged me down through Christmas. My goal is somewhere around 160-170. Anything less than that makes my face look gaunt. But I fondly remember my 20s and 30s of being 138 and eating whatever I wanted…,

I’m back on track now, plus no alcohol or sugar. I just started a 5k training program so I plan to keep up the IF until mid-February and see where I land. Last time I dropped about 1.5 pounds a week.

For pants my go to places are American Eagle (they carry long and extra long), Prana has some amazing casual pants and their longs are 34”, and Athleta (I love their wide leg linen pants in the summer) with a 34” inseam, too.

Thanks for starting this, op! I’ve never been ashamed of my weight and don’t really equate it with my health, but shorter people typically have no clue how much I weigh and those I’ve told drop their jaws. It’s nice to connect with my people.

I'm 53, 5'11" and 2 yrs ago I was at 185 lbs. Pandemic- started taking control of my habits. I suddenly had time for exercise and I started walking the dog 2+ hrs/day. I also aim for intermittent fasting. I found some good pod casts to listen to re: health and nutrition and that helped motivation (have 2 teens and a DH who looks like a teen!)

I got down to 155 and then holidays - up to 160+ again! But now slowly getting back to cutting out sugar, wine, and intermittent fasting. My goal is 150.

I am having 2 problems-
1) Plateau. Winter is harder b/c it's dark and cold after dinner and I just want to stay in. Summertime I can walk more after dinner.
2) none of my pants fit. Only leggings. I am so tired of all my jeans being "ankle pants" SO SICK OF IT now i'm in a size 10 or 8 the pants are too short. Even the pants advertised as "long" or "tall" are NOT it's a lie.

I'm certain size 8 is "vanity" but I want jeans that will stay UP not fall down around my hips by 2 pm! It's maddening.

Where do you find jeans long enough? I see some online - from unfamiliar sources - and I hesitate to pay for 2-way shipping if they don't fit.

Good luck OP!

Are you tall? Are you carrying more weight than you’d like? This is the place for you. I thought I’d start a tall-woman-specific thread because, well, we are none of us aiming for 110 lbs (I hope).

I’m 5’11” and currently nearly 190 lbs. I am hoping to get down to 150 this year—it’s the weight at which I look and feel best. (Actually, I was briefly 139 and looked amazing but that’s never happening again.) Anyone want to join me?

I have settled on a form of intermittent fasting, mostly because I’m terrible with portion control. It’s much easier for me to not eat anything than to eat a little bit of whatever. This is actually how I ate naturally before I had kids—long gaps between meals, no snacking—so I think it ought to work. I’m trying to figure out the pattern that will be most sustainable for me.

FWIW, I’m 45 and this is the first time health has been my primary motivator in weight control. I lost a close family member this year far too young and I just want to make sure I’m doing what I can to live a long, healthy life for my kids.
