Since it is close in and DC proper that was hardest hit, and it’s going to freeze overnight it’s probably going to be another weather admin day for non-teleworkers.

Doing anything but a closure is sending a message to the public that it's safe to be on the roads without an essential/medical need, and that's absolutely not the case. Temps started falling dramatically at sunset, and most sidewalks are solid sheets of ice. Even in dense parts of DC, roads are poorly treated and intersections impassable for pedestrians because of the walls of snow and knee-deep slush.

But politics over safety and all that. Can't give "lazy" workers TWO days off. Never mind that the onsite workers have been there throughout the pandemic for a reason, and are definitely doing more actual work than the "isn't everyone teleworking anyway?" folks who spend their days doing laundry, cooking, taking care of kids and whining that they missed out on a snow day today.

We've had two days (or more) before - Snowzilla in 2016. This isn't as bad as that, but my recollection then is snow started falling Friday afternoon and we werer still off work Monday-Wednesday.

The closure for today was announced last night (1/2) before 10pm.

Yes way they close tomorrow. Close in burbs had a foot of snow that didn't stop falling until 3pm. Plows havent touched nearly enough streets and we will have a hard freeze tonight. Schools are closed region wide. Opening is just stupid.

All of that may be true. Still don't see them closing.

OPM can't make that decision until tomorrow morning, 5AM.

There are still people on 95S from this morning. Streets in Alexandria andArlington haven't been touched. There are 300 cars stuck on the Wilson bridge as I type this.

If OPM opens, they are either ignorant or malicious.

My military base operates on OPM’s decision and I obviously work in person, so it does matter to me. Also Ft Belvoir’s hospital tends to stick to OPM. Lots of people aren’t teleworking anymore.

We got a full foot of snow in Springfield and lots of trees down with the heavy, wet snow.

I'm sure they'll be open.

I'm not sure why you think this matters as far as an OPM closure - the whole point is whether it's safe to commute/travel. That should be the standard, not whether you can telework.

Personally, I hope they close. I think I could make it to work, but I've heard Burke/West Springfield and Fairfax got a real dump of snow and aren't plowed. Plus, FCPS is closed and I am sure other school districts will be as well.

Yeah, but those of us not working from home would like to plan for tomorrow.

I’m hoping for at least a delayed start.

We got almost 12 inches of snow in Virginia. Historically, I feel like that would mean tomorrow is closed. What do you think?
