Doing anything but a closure is sending a message to the public that it's safe to be on the roads without an essential/medical need, and that's absolutely not the case. Temps started falling dramatically at sunset, and most sidewalks are solid sheets of ice. Even in dense parts of DC, roads are poorly treated and intersections impassable for pedestrians because of the walls of snow and knee-deep slush.
But politics over safety and all that. Can't give "lazy" workers TWO days off. Never mind that the onsite workers have been there throughout the pandemic for a reason, and are definitely doing more actual work than the "isn't everyone teleworking anyway?" folks who spend their days doing laundry, cooking, taking care of kids and whining that they missed out on a snow day today.

Yes way they close tomorrow. Close in burbs had a foot of snow that didn't stop falling until 3pm. Plows havent touched nearly enough streets and we will have a hard freeze tonight. Schools are closed region wide. Opening is just stupid.
