It is understandable to have the buildings closed, it is fine to have virtual, but why can't the kids (especially middle and high school) be taught via zoom, like last year? I hate asynchronous work with a passion. My child has ADHD, and while he can concentrate in class, he can't handle what essentially amount to five hour straight of homework.

Nobody wants to be stuck on Zoom. They should just give the kids their snow day and extend winter break by a day. Nobody is going to get anything of educational value out of whatever is offered virtually today.

It rarely snows here. Is it so awful to give kids the day off to enjoy the snow and go play in it? Only district in the area that made this decision.

You guys are the only school in the region doing virtual learning. Everyone else is closed. Loudon is on a 2 hour delay. I think even the virtual arms of certain school districts are closed because it's in the rules - they have to close, which makes no sense at all.

So...you are above the pack here.

Not really. As a PP posted, it’s busy work, no new material, and not graded. Just a waste of time.

It’s all theater. No actual value or learning involved. Typical ACPS junk.

When schools close due to snow or other inclement weather during the 2021-22 school year, these days will be virtual learning days. All instruction will be asynchronous on these days. Asynchronous learning happens when students learn the same material but at different times and locations, without live instruction. Teachers will be available for office hours for students and this will be communicated by each school. Students will have access to assignments, apps and resources through Canvas and/or Clever. On these days, students need to simply log in to Clever or Canvas for attendance purposes. No new content nor grades will be assigned on these virtual learning days.

Seriously? So busy work that’s not new and not graded, but attendance is taken? Do these days count?

At least it's asynchronous. Trying to have 2 kids at home when one teacher has said "go play in the snow" and the other is teaching is a nightmare.

How do you know this?

Both my elementary kids (2nd and 5th) were sent home with devices (and have been for the past few weeks.)

Ridiculous. Give the kids their snow day and extend winter break by one day. Did all students even bring home devices home? Not sure younger elementary did.
