We are under a winter storm warning in the DC area.

Oh so it’s just normal snow freak out shopping. Not pandemic staffing?

We were away a few days last week and I was still off yesterday so I had planned to go on Monday when the stores would be emptier. Then we heard about the coming storm so I went to TJs on Sunday. It was a madhouse for four reasons:

People home after vacations
Day before school and work start for many
TJs was closed on Saturday
Storm hitting Monday

It was the perfect storm, pun intended. Not everyone was doing “freak out” shopping.

Safeway had no organic Chicken. The only chicken was nubby thighs.

My Whole Foods was mostly out of produce! That was weird. Plenty of milk and yogurt though.

Wegman’s was too. I had to go to a second store to get vegetables. They were out of many things I needed.

Things were already out even before the snow news, we went for our regular run on Friday. If you didn't go before New Years Eve there would have been as much there anyhow.

No. I’m sure we will be back to normal by tomorrow or Wed. This isn’t the apocalypse.

We had just done a large Omicron grocery shop, but given the way milk is drunk in this house, we'll have to run out and get some two days from now...

I made the mistake of going to Trader Joes. I never go on Sunday. I was an idiot to go the Sunday before snow.

My husband ran out and said he grabbed one of the last gallons of milk. They were totally out of chicken.

Wegmans was nearly empty yesterday at 10 a.m. It was a great day to go. If you’re afraid it will be bonkers, just run to the gas station and get milk.
