I am not afraid of death and haven’t been for many years. I was when I was younger but I got over that by my 30s. I have worked primarily hospice caregiving the last half decade and that has reinforced my inner peace about death. The only thing I fear is having no control over the means and manner of my death, or having to endure a prolonged and painful decline. I have an exit plan that I will utilize under such circumstances, for instance if diagnosed with advancing dementia or late stage cancer or some other very debilitating condition. I believe wholeheartedly in rational suicide/euthanasia and hope someday it will be legal in all states for people to choose their own exit if they want to. In states where it is legal it isn’t often utilized but the option brings great comfort to many faced with terminal diagnoses.

+1. My father lived thru WW2 and Vietnam but it was ARDS that finally took his life. It was terrible watching him gasp for air, like watching someone drowning in front of you. I also watched my grandfather die a very painful death from prostate cancer. I’m hoping to go quickly and painlessly.

Same here but at almost 40 y/o and only mine. I'm ready to go when I can't live the way I want, as long as my (hopefully) future grandkids are older. My parents are in their 80s and they are not afraid at all but they want more time with their grandkids.

I get it. It felt like I was in heaven, just for a moment. And I missed it.

For me, it's not death that I worry about. It's the people I leave behind that worry me

accepting how wonderful death can be , I started accepting death I am in my 70s and I know it will be now, but when It comes I'll be okay with it, I had a fun life, Served in the Army for 20 years. Been overseas travel to all 50 states, and just had fun along the way. What is the average age to accept death?
