We do charcuterie and just graze all night. This year I’m attempting homemade focaccia.

Pork and sauerkraut of course! With mashed potatoes.

NYE is just a non-stop parade of appetizers 😍

This sounds good! Any recipe link? I was thinking of ham, but this sounds better.

I don’t really use a recipe, but it’s pretty similar to this: https://lidiasitaly.com/recipes/ziti-with-broccoli-rabe-and-sausage/

Except I use a large package of fresh spinach instead of the broccoli rabe, 1 lb. sausage instead of half, 1/2+ cup cream instead of 1 cup pasta water (it’s still really good with just pasta water though), and LOTS of grated pecorino or parm stirred in at the end. I also cook the sausage first and then add the garlic only a minute or two before adding the spinach, so it cooks but doesn’t burn. I usually use orecchiette but it’s good with any chunky pasta shape.

Fondue NYE, nothing special on NYD. Probably an EMG day (Everythong Must Go from the refrigerator - I pull out all the leftovers, and everyone takes what they want).

NYE we have started this tradition of some fun apps- charcuterie and cheese boards, pigs in a blanket, stuffed dates, baguette, caviar and creme fraiche on blinis, sparkling cider for the kids. Maybe butterscotch pudding for dessert this year.

Because I’m burned out from the holidays, I found this idea for a sheet pan New Years with ham, mini sweet potatoes and marshmallows, green beans and biscuits: https://damndelicious.net/2021/12/16/sheet-pan-holiday-dinner/

My kids are still too young, but eventually I’d like to do a fondue NYE tradition.

DH's family is coming over for NYD. Part of that family can't eat pork, which is totally fine and at least helps me eliminate ham, etc.

We're thinking of the following:
smoked beef brisket (in our smoker)
a big platter of chicken wings (from nearby store that does great chicken wings)
homemade Mac and cheese
homemade chocolate cake
probably some various apps

The other family members will bring:
crudites tray
fancy salad
another dessert of their choice

Nothing for NYD. We make dinner for NYE, and the next day is leftovers, and hanging out in PJs.

NYE
Pernil (Puerto Rican style Pork Roast)
Rice with Pigeon Peas
Pasteles
Green salad

For NY day, we do brunch: spiral ham, corn pancakes or waffles, frittata, fresh fruit. I make a black eye pea salad for those wanting to partake.

We do some form of asian take-out for NYE (last year Chinese, this year Japanese), so that covers the noodles on NYE tradition.

I'm trying to establish our young family's holiday traditions- I think I am leaning Southern:

Toni Tipton-Martin's jubilee pork chops
Black eyed pea fritters
Cornbread
Creamed collards

We were gifted a ham at Thanksgiving, and I just cannot with ham right now.
