If it is any consolation it is still better than when they chose to age in place. The few caregivers mom can stand cancel due to being sick and we pay extra due to risk for people she scares away. With our loved ones in assisted living, at least they have friends in the building and still feel connected. My mother is so isolated and if she gets sick not sure how she will be cared for if nobody can stand to interact with her. Having friends at a facility forces you to practice and retain the social skills longer. Feeling connected is good for immunity and battling illness.
