Agree that nursing pay in the DC area sucks. I could make more money as a nanny than as an ICU nurse. 😫
This is PP. Look for clinical educator, account manager (in many cases, you’d be talking to other nurses), or research roles. I’m in HR, we would hire lots of you guys you have more clinical cred than the division I athletes who went the sports medicine route.

As I nurse I enjoy working with most patients, ICU or med surg was exciting to me but the workload is too much and the pay generally sucks. Many of my coworkers have ended up with back surgery and other chronic injuries. The occupational hazards are awful- there’s not enough patient lifts, never get lunch breaks, etc

I enjoy research, data analysis, science, medicine, and I enjoy working with patients (that are not physically or verbally abusive). However, I can deal with difficult people to an extent and I’m a hard worker. If I could re do my career I would be an intelligence analyst, FBI, or do something with computers (maybe cyber security?)

There are nurses who basically are the Epic liaison for a hospital system (or whatever electronic medical record is for your campus.) one name for them is clinical applications analyst.

Go to work for a lawyers office. Gathering and reading medical records and explaining them to in language for laypeople is sought after I med mal firms or insurance defense shops.

As stated in the title, I am a nurse looking for a career change. The pay sucks unless you are a traveling nurse. $40-$45 an hour in the DC area while doing backbreaking work isn’t cutting it anymore.
I have a bachelors, am great with computers- looking for a job that doesn’t require a new degree and pays better than my current job. It doesn’t have to be in the medical field. I’m open to any suggestions. Thank you!
