What was the design fee? I am in a similar situation where a kitchen designer did the design but I might not go with them (I don't love their process, been waiting for a quote for weeks). Anyway wondering what design fees would cost.

This is true, the IKEA designer is just checking the design for obvious flaws. We needed that, the software was easy to use but adding space for side panels, and setting back from walls required assistance at first.

My SIL tried it and everything with Ikea right now is a nightmare proposition. Stock issues, delivery issues and they are not accessible by phone.

Ikea is just not worth it.

I am literally just coming back from an In person kitchen planning session at IKEA in college park. I am at the very beginning of the planning process and I am not sure I am going with ikea yet. I was checking their website this morning and saw an open appointment for 1pm and signed up for it. Their next appointment was on January 3rd. Anyway the designer helped me start from the scratch and it went well. I think one of my hang up with Ikea is my contractor won’t like it and they don’t have 42 inch cabinets.

Good luck !

Over the summer we did a walk-in appointment at College Park. We went on a weeknight, it was only a brief wait. We did pretty well with the online tool, but speaking with someone as they gave it the final once over was essential. They also were able to tell us more accurately what was available. Hopefully supply issues have improved.

We worked with one online and she was great. Very thoughtful and collaborative. Suggested things that were not obvious. We tried a few other cabinet places and the "designers" were sloppy and lazy and just filled up your kitchen so they could sell the most cabinets even though it was not aesthetically pleasing or what you asked for.

I heard the supply problem is easing for Ikea cabinets, at least that's what they told us last time we checked.

You can make a virtual appointment to talk through your plan with a kitchen designer on the ikea website. If you are happy with the plan, the designer will help you place the order on the call.

Fair warning, there are a lot of stick issues with ikea cabinets right now so don’t expect you’ll be able to get everything immediately.

I'm planning to work on an Ikea kitchen cabinet plan this week. I have a rough plan that I did online and would like to have an Ikea designer look at the plan ahead of doing the order.

If you worked with the designers recently (during covid), did you work with IKEA designers online or in the store? If you went in the store, do you make appointments or just show up and get in line? The IKEA would be the College Park one, if that makes a difference.
