My sister was very delayed to the point she got an MRI and ended up being an English major. Part of the problem was me. Apparently I did everything for her and spoke for her.

I agree with the above poster that it may not necessarily mean he has a low IQ for a learning disability, but, the combination of a speech delay, receptive learning delay, and his struggles to do things like identify common objects does, also at the same time, point in that direction that something may be amiss. Double down on all the services you can get and that are suggested. He is young and this is a crucial time to do as much as you can to support him and his growth in all ways, whether or not you have diagnoses at this point.

No, it doesn’t necessarily mean any of those things. Your child is still very young. Get him the supports and services recommended.

My almost 3 year old was evaluated recently for possible delay. He was almost 50% delay in literacy, like 17 months old level, but his receptive/expressive language skill is 10-20% delay (like 26-34 months level).

What does that really mean? They say that he can speak 1-4 word phrases, but he does not really understand sometimes what those mean. He did really poor on identity pictures by pointing on book picture, e.g. color, size, shape etc.

I know he has speech delay, and he does not like to read book or read to.

My older kid is gifted with high IQ (a few level above grade), and I wonder if all these mean my youngest has low IQ or potential learning disorder (pointing to that area)?
